When I say live your own messy, beautiful life this is what I mean. A lot of people want to make you think they have it all figured out. I’m here to tell you, although there are those rarities among us that seem to always have their ducks in a row, most of us are just trying our best and it’s beautiful. Here’s today’s example:

Not many things excite me as much as spring and being able to finally gather the early spring offerings and make various jellies, salves, or other goodies that I have exhausted my supply of. There is only a limited time to gather some of these and, as we talked about earlier, this is the fun stuff we are squeezing in between the have to stuff. So, today the mission was to gather some redbuds to make jelly, being sure to leave plenty for the bees and plant plenty of wildflowers to give back.

The Redbud Harvest We picked our 4 cups of redbuds and started heading back to the house. On the way, we discovered that our cat had her kittens under the shed. That wasn’t a safe spot for them, so the jelly-making process was paused while we dealt with that. Once sorted, we headed back to the house.

A Series of (Funny) Challenges I cleaned the redbuds, gathered supplies, and started prepping ingredients… but then discovered we were out of lemon juice. No problem—my boyfriend lives nearby, so I turned off the stove and ran to grab some. Got the lemon juice, restarted the process, and opened the pantry. Guess what? No sugar!

Embracing the Messy Magic So now the redbuds are chilling in the refrigerator, and the jelly-making will continue tomorrow. The moral of the story? You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to try.

Stay messy, my friends. Embrace the imperfect magic of everyday life.
